Build your home page with AI
Describe your business and have your home page written for you — then keep refining it in plain English.
Overview
The AI website builder writes your home page for you. Tell it what your business is called and what you offer, answer a couple of short questions, and it lays out and writes a complete home page on the template you chose — the opening section, the words in between, the button labels, and the closing call to action.
It all happens on one screen: a chat on the left, a live preview of your site on the right. The first build happens once per site. After that, the same screen becomes an editor where you ask for changes in plain English, watch them land in the preview, and publish when you're happy.
The builder is included on every plan, free trial included, and it works with any template in our catalog. If it isn't offered on your site, it hasn't been switched on for your account yet — send us a message and we'll help.
Starting a site with AI
You don't have to go looking for the builder — creating a site takes you straight to it.
- In the side navigation, open Sites and click the + button to add a site.
- Choose the template you want to build on. Every template works with the builder.
- Name your site and create it. You land in the builder: chat on the left, your new site previewing on the right.
- Tell it about your business, and answer the follow-ups it asks. When it has enough, it writes the page.
- Would rather start from the template's demo content? Choose “Skip — I'll build it myself” and you'll go straight to your sites list.
Coming back later is fine. As long as the home page hasn't been built by AI yet, open Sites, click the action button (the ⋯) next to your site, and choose Generate with AI. Once it has been built, that same menu item becomes Edit with AI.
Telling it about your business
Two things have to be clear before it will write anything: your business's name, and what you actually offer — specific enough to write real copy from. “A bakery in Portland” is plenty; “a small business” isn't.
From there it may ask one or two short follow-ups: the main thing you want visitors to do — buy, book, enquire, browse your work, join your list — and what to feature most. It won't interrogate you. If your first message already covers it, it gets straight to writing.
Prices, addresses, phone numbers, opening hours, and statistics appear only if you provided them — so if you want them on the page, mention them in the chat.
Your first draft
When it has enough to go on, the builder writes the whole home page in one pass: it picks which of your template's sections suit your business, puts them in an order that introduces you well, and writes every line of copy. Photography and links come from the template's demo content, so the page looks finished the moment it appears.
The page is saved to your site right away and the preview reloads with it. From there you can open the visual editor to fine-tune anything, or head back to your sites list.
The builder writes your home page. Every other page that came with your template is still there, untouched, and yours to edit — and a brand-new site stays private until you take it live.
Brand colors
On templates that support site-wide colors, the builder also suggests three palettes chosen for your business — each one an accent for buttons and links, a page background, and a text color.
Click a palette to preview it live across the whole site, then apply the one you like. Nothing is saved until you apply it, and you can change your colors any time afterwards in the site's Settings, under Brand & SEO.
Palettes need a template that supports site-wide colors and permission to change site settings — if you don't see them, that's why. Your fonts come matched to the template and aren't changed by the builder.
Changing it later, in plain English
Once your home page exists, going back to the builder opens the editor instead. Say what you want changed — “shorten the intro”, “make the tone warmer”, “add a section about our workshops” — and it makes the change and shows you the result.
The Editing picker above the message box aims your next request at one section or the whole page, and the quick buttons beside it save you the typing.
- Pick a section, then use Rewrite, Fresh take, Shorten, Move up, Move down, or Remove to change just that part of the page.
- Leave it on Whole page for Punchier copy, Shorten copy, “Add a section…”, or Suggest colors.
- Or just type what you want in your own words — the picker and buttons are shortcuts, not the only way in.
- Your changes are saved as an unpublished draft: the preview shows them, visitors don't.
- Use Undo to step back a change, Discard to throw the whole draft away, or Publish changes when it's right.
Only the first build is one-and-done — everything after it is an ordinary edit you can keep refining, up to the AI actions your plan includes.
What it writes — and what stays yours
The builder is a copywriter, not a designer. It writes and arranges words; everything else stays in your hands.
- It writes — headlines, body copy, and button labels, section by section.
- It arranges — which sections appear and in what order, including adding, removing, and moving them.
- It suggests — three brand color palettes, on templates that support site-wide colors.
- You keep — your images, where every button links, your other pages, and the final say on all of it, in the visual editor.
Ask it to swap a photo or repoint a button and it will say the same thing: those live in the visual editor. It can still reword the button for you.
Frequently asked questions
No. A sentence or two about your business is enough — the builder writes the page from there, and asks a follow-up if it needs one. You're free to rewrite anything afterwards, either by asking for a change in plain English or by editing the words directly on the page.
Every template in our catalog. Pick the design you love first and let the builder fill it in for your business — you're never pushed toward a particular layout because of the AI.
Yes — it comes with every plan, including the free trial, at no extra cost. A trial site can be built and previewed in full; you'll need a paid plan to take it live for the public.
The home page. Your template's other pages — about, services, contact, and the rest — arrive already designed and written as part of the template, and you edit those in the visual editor.
From your template's demo content, so the page looks complete straight away. Swap in your own images whenever you're ready in the visual editor.
No, and that's deliberate. The AI only writes words — including button labels — so it can never send a visitor somewhere unexpected or replace a photo you chose. Images and links are yours to set in the visual editor.
The first build happens once per site. After that you're in the editor, where each request you send is one AI action from your plan's allowance — enough to rewrite a section from scratch, add new ones, or remove what you don't need.
Yes. Open Sites, click the action button (the ⋯) next to the site, and choose Generate with AI. Bear in mind it writes a fresh home page over the current one, so if you've already made changes to your home page you'd like to keep, save a copy of that wording first.
The first build is saved to your site immediately — though a new site is private until you take it live. Every change after that is saved as a draft: you see it in the preview, and visitors see it only once you click Publish changes.
Undo steps back the last change, and Discard throws away the whole unpublished draft and returns you to what's live. Since nothing publishes until you say so, you can try a few directions without any risk.
It's built to work from what you tell it — contact details, addresses, prices, and statistics are meant to come from you rather than be filled in for you. It's still AI writing persuasive copy in your voice, though, so read the page over before you publish and correct anything that isn't quite you.
Each plan includes a number of AI actions — one action is one request you send the builder, editor or logo designer. The free Trial includes 40 in total; paid plans include a monthly allowance that refreshes on the 1st. Normal building and editing sits well inside it, and everything you've already published stays exactly as it is either way.
Anyone with permission to publish pages for that site, since the builder writes your home page. Applying a suggested color palette also needs permission to change site settings — so a team member without it can still build and edit the page, just not recolor the site.
